Our story

Local Data Labs was founded when an entrepreneur with a 20-year background in software, analytics, and startups came together with a real estate development firm with a 25-year background in self-storage and hotels. They saw an opportunity to leverage the most granular, household-level consumer data for more informed marketing and site selection.

Today, we offer a productized version of the internally-developed platform, a cloud-based data & analytics platform built from the ground-up, leveraging the latest predictive algorithms available.

 
 

Leadership

 
 

Dan Whaite

Dan spent 15 years in enterprise software, with roles at PTC, Endeca/Oracle, and Ironworks. In the last 5 years, he has focused on building and scaling new analytics products for startups. He led business development for a social media effectiveness platform for marketers (SocialQ) and led development of an analytics platform for the valuation of insurance (RiskMD). He has an engineering degree from Virginia Tech and an MPA from Harvard.

Adam Mikkelson

Adam has been a real estate developer in both self-storage and hospitality since 2005. He has played roles in acquisition, development, operations, site selection, supplier management, marketing, and investor relations. He currently provides executive oversight for Liberty Investment Properties, while setting the strategic direction for Local Data Labs. He has an economics degree from Rollins College.

Don Hinman

For over 35 years, Don worked at some of the best data-driven marketing companies in the world: Epsilon (SVP), the Allant Group (EVP), and Acxiom (Group Leader). He became known in the industry as “Dr. Data” - due to his experience in the creation and use of data in marketing applications. He is a frequent speaker for conferences and seminars in the direct marketing and CRM industries. He has a Ph.D. in Mass Communication Research from Bowling Green State University.
